Notes

The Coastal Coorie In bundle tours the beautiful coastline of Scotland with three casks from different regions. All located within a stone’s throw of the sea, this maritime environment affects each cask in different ways. Let’s start on the North Sea with Highlands Cask 26.132 Krupnik and amaretti. Whilst the spicy & sweet profile offering honey, confection and spice drives this dram, one may always look to the waxy texture of this make for a reference point. At times, a minerality can be discerned from this waxiness that may have something to do with close proximity to the sea. From here, we travel south by southwest past lochs and over mountains, skirting the Western Highlands all the way to Campbeltown. This lovely village on the Kintyre Peninsula is where Cask 93.120 Cocoa and coal was distilled. Any peat used here comes from the Highlands but the Atlantic Ocean breeze is unmistakable. Howling through the warehouses, many casks from this distillery have a distinct saltiness to them that transports us to the charming seaside town with each sip. A touch of peat and wafts of smoke from a re-charred hogshead offer even more complexity to this delightful dram. Fancy a ferry ride? You must to make it to our last stop on this coastal tour. We travel back north to Kennacraig for a ferry to Port Askaig on the magical island of Islay. Just off the port we arrive at the home of Cask 53.310 Kippers in slippers. Perhaps no other malt expresses as much of the ocean as an Islay malt. The combination of proximity to the water and peat based in sand, seaweed or both yields a robustly maritime malt typically replete with seafood delicacies, sea air, beach bonfires and boat decks. This particular expression is a perfect example that delves into the medicinal characteristics of the island. Our single casks of this make continue to be absolutely diverse and equally delicious. The single casks of this bundle show pedigree and precision in their delivery and are not to be missed.

This bundle includes two (2) Society snifters that will ship with order.
