Cask No. 59.60

The Milkman with a red oven glove

Highland, Northern

Freshness, flowers, trampled meadows, frolicking wasps, balsa wood, model aeroplanes crashing into nettles. Then some darker and earthier rural notes emerge; hay bales, overripe cider apples, muddy gravel and mechanical oils. Water brings out the bananas and apples. Also, green pear, caramelised oatmeal, vanilla foam, wood spice and the sharpness of gooseberry slicing through. Hints of well-used oven gloves! The palate is suddenly rich, fatty and surprisingly waxy. Lots of bergamot and Earl Grey tea. Chamomile, sweetness of lemon sherbet, fabric, straw mats, burnt brown sugar and even hints of flecked salinity. With water there's some quinine bitterness, cloudy lemonade, pear and apple salad, then big notes of milk bottle sweeties and peach fizz. A very grownup dram!
