A curious nose of sweet cereals and brylcream at first. There’s also hay loft, dusty malt bins, pineapple haribo and toothpaste. Beyond there’s also oatcakes, golden sultanas, lime syrup, runny honey and camphor. After reduction the aromas move towards lemon-infused grappa, freshly chopped rhubarb, scrunched newspaper, ink wells, smashed clay pots, geraniums in a greenhouse and warm grist. The palate is spicy at first with cloves, cinnamon, buttery toast and sunflower seeds. Some poppy bread, lemony soot and a dusting of black pepper. Water reveals lemon barley water, limoncello and tonic water, elderflower cordial, tea tree oil, liquorice root and dried wildflowers.
