Belgian waffles – Turkish Delight
Speyside, Spey
The neat nose is subtle and attractive – honey sweetness, sherbet straws, chalky Edinburgh Rock, suave intimations of perfumed exotic fruit (pineapple, mango) and a herbalist’s consulting room. The palate has charred oak, ginger beer and peach schnapps mixed with prosecco – which all seems quite playful – but with the reassuring sweetness of vanilla ice-cream, Belgian waffles and Turkish Delight. The reduced nose has pear tart, fudge, chocolate-coated foamy bananas and coconut ice – but minty, menthol herbals dance teasingly in the background. The reduced palate combines honey and sweet sherbet with good wood and tropical fruits – an interesting and appealing taste experience.
