Cask No. 12.35

Meringues floating over gardens

Speyside, Lossie

The nose lifted us to a bright sunny place “grassy, fruity and attractive“ marshmallow tea-cakes, lemon sherbet, blossom honey and vanilla custard slice. The palate had an initial super-sweet hit, with rapid dry evaporation - soft fruits, dolly mixtures, cotton candy, caramel and dried pineapple and papaya, followed by toasted coconut and warming white pepper. The reduced nose had under-ripe pineapple, pears in syrup, lemon bonbons and meringues floating over gardens - light and lovely, like liquid sunshine. The palate now found lime marmalade, red grape and banoffee pie; and a waxy, liquorice, gentle spice finish to tickle anyone's pickle.

Cask: Second-fill barrel
Age: 8 years
Date distilled: October 2010
Alcohol: 59.4%
USA allocation: 72 bottles
