My new favorite cask for absolute decadence, this whisky lets up on the heavier vanilla spices we prefer in winter just in time for springtime. Meant for cooler spring days, this cask ushers us along nicely towards the warmer months. Light vanilla, coconut, and toasted orange peel compliment caramel and cereal notes to indeed make for “A most splendid reception”.
I’m lucky to have a kind neighbor often taste-testing baked goods. Her almond shortbread cookies were the absolute perfect compliment to this cask, as was a moist Tres Leches cake! Ah, the good life.
