Coming home to apple pie and the smell of wet soil
On the nose, honey, toffee and caramel. A sigh in the glass, a sweet and gentle hug, and a very soft landing home from many days on the road. I take a moment to reminisce about the foliage in the Hudson Valley I was fortunate to catch this year. After the first sip, surprisingly grassy with bright green apple juice and cinnamon dust. Quickly turns into caramelized apples, marzipan, pear à la mode. I'm reminded of sitting in a diner late at night for a guilty yet delicious dessert. The finish is less decadent and more mature. Dark chocolate, orange peel and apple tart. Like baking on a rainy day.
